Both are stillpartners and hold over 80 % of the shares. The first customer of the new enterprise was a recycling operation owned by a large glass mill which collectedglass and paper in the town of Munich, Germany. The colour-separated collection in more than 1,000 locationswith over 3,000 containers required a first-class logistic system. The partners developed a solution which optimi-zed the routing and data collection, using bar-coded driver tickets and integration with electro-nic truck scales. Many of the solutions whichwere created then are still used by customerstoday, naturally with more modern tools andequipment. The partners decided to develop an industry-wide solution based on this application, especi-ally as the second customer was a large scraprecycling company in the same town. The con-cept worked. Recycling – starting to become anecessity in the view of many people – formedthe core business of the new company. The soft-ware was named RECY, an abbreviation for RECYCLING. As existing software packages did not meet the specialrequirements of the recycling industry, Klarmann & Partner developed their own financial package which is stillused by most of their customers including multi-billion Euro corporations, and does compare favourably with themarket leaders in financial software. The first employees were hired in 1987, and a larger office was found. In 1990 the company had already 40 cus-tomers, and the software was migrated to the new operating system UNIX. Shortly after, a small software com-pany was bought and further employees added. In 1993 Klarmann & Partner won Klöckner Rohstoff Recycling asa customer, the first large corporation. For the requirements of the corporate business an updated version of thesoftware was developed.1997 a complete new version of RECY was presented at the ISRI convention in Las Vegas. This version was com-pletely independent from the operating system, and was based on a window-front end. In the same year a newcompany was founded in the United States, and the software was marketed there with good success.2002 the company was renamed to RECY SYSTEMS AG, a public corporation, with the shares still in private owner-ship. Bernd Ott who had managed an affiliated company became a shareholder. In 2007 an office in England was opened and RECY SYSTEMS U.K. took over to mar-ket and support the software in Great Britain and Ireland. The next company followedin 2008 with RECY SYSTEMS S.A. in Luxemburg. This company is responsible for salesand support in French-speaking countries. In 2009 the decision was made to developa completely new version of RECY on the basis of Oracle database software and theprogramming language C#. This version will be released in the near future.4The founders of the company:Bernd Klarmannand Manfred Aniol (left)Softwarefor the Recycling IndustryIn 2010 RECY SYSTEMS AG has over 500 customers in Europe, North America,Asia and Africa. Innovation is also demonstrated bythe company during the optimization of the administra-tion: as one of the first – and very satisfied Swiss customerof RECY.Latest technology in two large-scale plants provides ahigh efficiency of processing. A 1000-tons-scrap metalshear with an 8-meter-crusher – the first in Switzerland –eliminates the extensive pre-crushing of bulky parts. Theplants guarantee short processing times, efficient materialtransport and meet the requirements of steel plants, castiron foundries, aluminum smelters and copper mills. Thequality of the prepared metals relies strongly on theample specialized knowledge of the recyclers, which areemployed by the company with its approximately thirtyemployees and develops qualified trainees.Transparency distinguishes all procedures at GotthardSchnyder AG – ranging from the scale and material pro-cedures to the updated payment.
