We ask you to read these instructions as this will increase your knowledge to and your profit of your new FREMTIDEN pump. We recommend that you keep this booklet in a safe place as it contains a spare part list, which will easen ordering parts if you can inform us of the correct spare part number. Description of the machine Never connect/start FREMTIDEN´s slurry pump before the pump is immersed in the liquid manure, is stable on the concrete bottom and properly secured. Danish farmers have applied FREMTIDEN´s slurry pump with long shaft for more than 15 years, characterized by a large performance from liquid-manure tanks, storage and pretanks. The slurry system can be customized through FREMTIDEN’s comprehensive programme of accessories, so that the system covers your requirements. The FREMTIDEN pump handles even very thick slurry. The standard model is mounted with a fixed mixer (model F), and as an option a swivel mixer (model D) can be mounted. The pumps are delivered painted with a two-pack paint or galvanized, and all accessories are delivered galvanized. FREMTIDEN´s slurry pump with long shaft is very servicable as it only has 2 bearings: a thrust bearing in the top and a rubber bearing in the bottom. The lower rubber bearing can be replaced without dismantling the pump. If the depth of the tank is more than 3 metres one or more support bearings are to be mounted. FREMTIDEN´s liquid-manure pump is a 4" pump, with a power of 5,5 hp and a discharge rate of approximately 2000 l/min. at a delivery head of 5 metres. FREMTIDEN´s slurry pump model ELM is available in 5” 10 hp and 6” 15 hp to 30 hp, designed for pig and cattle slurry, with a power from 10 hp to 30 hp and a discharge rate of 2800 l/min. to 6900 l/min. at a delivery head of 5 metres. FREMTIDEN´s PTO pump is a 6" slurry pump, designed for thick slurry and pumping from pretanks to storage tanks with a distance of up to 300 metres with an elevation of up to 10 metres. The PTO pump has a power of 40 hp and a discharge rate of 7233 l/min. at a delivery head of 5 metres. 4 Schematic assembling of pump system – storage tank and pretank. Before initial operation Before initial operation of your slurry pump the following points must be checked: Electric pumps 1. The electric pump has the right rotating direction – right-hand rotation (clockwise). 2. The top bearing housing is lubricated. 3. The pump is securely fixed in the floor plate/tank. 4. All accessories are tightened up. 5. When starting up, that pumping/mixing is adjusted to the wanted position. Connecting rod up = mixing – Connecting rod down = pumping. PTO pumps 1. Check gearboxes for oil. 2. Check that the PTO guards are whole. 3. Check that the top bearing housing is lubricated. 4. Check that the pump is securely fixed in the floor plate/tank. 5. Check that all accessories are tightened up. 6. When starting up check that pumping/mixing is adjusted to the wanted position. Connecting rod up = mixing – Connecting rod down = pumping. When repairing/maintaning (including lubricating) the electric pump, power to the electric motor must be disconnected in order to avoid accidental start-up. It is not sufficient to switch off on the contact. The plug must be pulled out or locked. 2. When repairing a PTO pump the PTO-guards must be whole and the PTO-screening must be mounted with chains in both ends. 3. When repairing/maintaining (including lubricating) the PTO pump, the PTO shaft to the tractor must be dismantled. 4. When mounting pumps in pretanks the pump (floor plate/pretank fittings) must be mounted securely in the pretank. When mounting pumps in storage tanks the pump (storage tank fittings/platform) must be mounted securely on the storage tank wall. 5. By energy failure machines that are connected to a current network must be equipped with a voltage drop trigger, which prevents that a machine, which has been stopped due to a voltage drop or power failure, will start when the current network gets operating voltage again. 6. Note: When slurry is pumped/mixed dangerous gasses may be created, both when filling in slurry and when mixing slurry in slurry ducts under the stable. Therefore make sure that the air purification is sufficient when filling/mixing. 7. The pump must never be left unattended during operation to ensure that no one is in the vicinity of the pump during start-up and operation. 8. When using ladders/platforms, fall protection equipment must be used. The fall protection equipment must be secured on the base of the platform. Installation of liquid-manure and electric pump The FREMTIDEN liquid-manure and electric pumps are delivered without installation of electricity. The user has to make his own electrician connect the electric motor to a legal wiring. The rotating direction of the pump must, seen from above, run to the right (clockwise). Electric pumps should neither be situated so that the electric motor is placed under the dripping from the eaves nor be exposed to any other extreme amount of water without mounting a cap over the motor. The motor must always have a free intake. The electric installation must be placed so that operation of the pump can be carried out at a distance that allows monitoring of the pump during start-up and operation Mounting of slurry pump in pretank 6 When mounting a slurry pump in a pretank a lifting device with a sufficient delivery head (delivery head = depth of tank) must be applied. The base of the slurry pump must be situated securely on the bottom of the pretank, after this the pump pipe must be securely fixed to the floor plate, and the floor plate is to be fixed in the pretank. Mounting of slurry pump in storage tanks When mounting a slurry pump in a storage tank a lifting device with a sufficient delivery head (delivery head = depth of tank) must be applied. The base of the slurry pump must be situated securely on the bottom of the storage tank or pump well. After this the pump pipe must be securely fixed in the storage tank fitting or the platform mounted on the storage tank wall. The slurry pump can be repaired without dismantling the pump. The pump housing comes standard with fixed mixer (F model). At tank depths over 3 metres one or more support bearings are to be mounted on the pump shaft. Support and rubber bearings are all lubricated by slurry from the pump housing, which is pumped through the lower rubber bearing up through the cover pipe to the support bearings. At a slurry height that is below the highest support bearings there must, when pumping, come slurry out of the drain holes above the support bearing. If the pump is stopped for a long period the support bearing should, because of drying-out, be lubricated through the drain hole before pumping. Top bearing housing Lubrication of the top bearing housing for each 20 hours of operation. Check oil in the gearbox (inspection glass in the end cover) and refill if necessary. The oil should be visible in the inspection glass in the end cover, or the filler plugs. Oil type, quantity and interval of oil change: see spare part drawing.
