The solids have to be conveyed in free fall or pneumatic dilute-phased transport because the measurement takes place directly in the material flow. The measurement is absolutely independent of the solids. Its operating range begins at a velocity of 2.4 ft/s (0.75 m/s).SpeedFlow works on the basis of triboelectric technology. Solid particles passing by or striking on the 2 sensor probes produce electrical charge transfers (induction voltage). With those electrical signals, the correlator de-termines the exact transit time between both rods which are spaced exactly 8 mm apart to determine velocity. The commissioning is made with the installed sensor and by means of a Laptop. There is an analog signal output of 4…20 mA for the velocity.SystemA complete measuring system consists of the following items:• Socket for sensor mounting, includes dummy plug• Sensor with a power cable of 2 m• Evaluation unit (incl. software for commissioning)Mounting and installationFor the sensor mounting the fitting position is determined according to the required inlet and outlet section. At this mounting position the socket is welded and then a Ø 20 mm hole is drilled through the socket into the pipe wall. Then the sensor is put into the socket, adapted to the wall thickness, and fixed by means of the union nut.
