Suspended Permanent Magnet (Overband) Brochure
SB 300 UK/3Suspended permanentmagnetic separators arepositioned over movingconveyor belts or in a chute for the purpose of removingferrous contaminants from bulk product flows.SEPARATION?SEPARATION?SEPARATION?SEPARATION?SEPARATION?SEPARATION?SEPARATION?SEPARATION?SEPARATION?SEPARATIONMagnet SelectionThe size of magnetic separator to beselected is dependent upon thespecific application. Eriez Engineerswould need the following information todetermine the optimal size andconfiguration for a particularrequirement:? Material type? Material bulk density? Material condition? Material size? Type and minimum size of tramp iron? Maximum lump size? Conveyor belt/chute width? Conveyor belt speed? Conveyor belt/chute dimensions and incline? Angle of ‘troughing’ idlers? Machinery to be protected? Head pulley diameter? Head pulley material®Applications? Quarry industry? Recycling industry? Any other industry where dry ferrous contamination is found on aconveyor belt or chute systemMagnet StrengthEriez offers two permanent magneticfield configurations, CP and OP,providing different field strengths anddepth of field. Our highly trainedApplication Engineering staff willrecommend the best type for thecustomer’s process. Eriez also offers an extensive range ofSuspended Electro-MagneticSeparators (ref SB 320 UK).SUSPENDEDPERMANENTMAGNETModels CP and OPPosition 2 -Across Conveyor BeltThe magnet can also be placed acrossthe conveyor belt. This position normallyrequires a stronger magnet, asseparation of metal out of a static burdenis more difficult. Raised, or rapping idlersunder the conveyor belt can assist infreeing trapped iron.Magnet CleaningExtracted ferrous metals must beremoved from the magnet face - theunit’s separation efficiency wouldotherwise be reduced by an accumulationof metals on the magnet face. There aretwo available options for cleaning themagnet.Manual Cleaning (MC)For low levels of ferrous contamination, the magnet can be manually cleaned bywiping the magnet face. This can beeasily done with a stripper plate (optionalextra)Self Cleaning (SC)A moving continuous belt surrounds themagnet box. Ferrous material attractedby the magnet is held on the belt, as thebelt moves clear of the magnetic field, ferrous materials fall away under gravityinto bins for collection and disposal.Optional ExtrasFlame-proof motors, special belts, speedsensitive switches, belt tracking devicesand extension magnets are all availableas options to suit specific requirements.Position 1 -Over Head PulleyTo achieve maximum separationefficiency, a suspended magnet shouldbe placed immediately above thetrajectory of material leaving the beltconveyor as shown.Magnet InstallationMC-2 Manual Cleaning - Position 2 MC-1 Manual Cleaning - Position 1 SC-1 Self Cleaning - Position 1 SC-2 Self Cleaning - Position 2 Suspended magnetHead PulleyProduct(Feed)ConveyorProductTramp IronPole endsSuspended magnetAdjustable splitterProduct(Feed)Head pulleyProductConveyorTramp IronPole endsCentre lineSplitter Trailing edge ofmagnet boxaligned withouter edge ofidlerEriez Magnetics Europe LimitedEuropean Manufacturing, Design and Test Laboratory HeadquartersBedwas House Industrial Estate, Bedwas, Caerphilly CF83 8YG, UKTelephone: 029 2086 8501 Fax: 029 2085 1314Int Tel: +44 29 2086 8501 Int Fax: +44 29 2085 1314E-mail: eriez@eriezeurope.co.ukwww.eriez.comMANUFACTURING AFFILIATES IN: AUSTRALIA BRAZIL CANADA INDIA JAPAN MEXICO SOUTH AFRICA UNITED STATESBath Design Centre Ltd 0802SUSPENDED PERMANENTMAGNETSMODELS CPAND OPSEPARATION?SEPARATION?SEPARATION?SEPARATION?SEPARATION?SEPARATION?SEPARATION?SEPARATION?SEPARATION?SEPARATION®
