The Models 101E/102E provide a dependable, accurateand convenient method of measuring hydrogen sulfideor Total Reduced Sulfur (TRS) in levels commonlyrequired for Ambient Air monitoring, offering ranges from0-50 ppb to 0-10 ppm. Both analyzers convert sulfurgases to sulfur dioxide and measure concentrationsusing fluorescence technology.The M101E is equipped with an internally mounted lowtemperature converter which converts H2S at a closelycontrolled temperature setting of 315 °C, leaving othergases unaffected. The M102E uses a high temperatureconverter, mounted externally to the analyzer, andoperates at a temperature of 850°C. TRS components(typically, H2S, methyl mercaptan, dimethyldisulfide andmethyl-disulfide) are all converted to SO2 at thistemperature, with efficiency greater than 98%.Sample gas drawn into the analyzer first passesthrough a scrubber which removes all traces of sulfurdioxide. The converter then converts the components ofinterest to SO2. The resulting concentration for SO2 isthen measured by fluorescence. In the basicconfiguration, the analyzer may be programmed to readH2S concentration (101E) or TRS (102E) only. However, aswitching option, showing H2S/TRS and SO2 readingsalternately, is available. Cycle times may be adjusted, andeach reading is truly independent, having its owncalibration slope and offset. A sample and hold circuitprovides continual analog outputs for each channel.Calibration is simplified by the optional zero and spanvalves, which allow direct entry of calibration gases, orthe optional permeation tube may be used to providespan checks.
