Being sensitive to the dwindling global supply of primary resources, Thermal-Lube teamed up with McGill University’s Department of Food Science and Agriculture Chemistry to study the degradation of in-service lubricants using Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FT-IR) Spectroscopy. To date, we have co-published more than 70 technical and peer-reviewed papers with the focus on predicting and prolonging the useful life of in-service lubricants. To this end, we developed our Continuous Oil And Treatment (COAT) System FT-IR analyzer which is programmed with Thermal-Lube’s proprietary UMPIRE-PRO software. These COAT Systems are now used in many Refineries and Commercial Laboratories throughout the world, and our unique lubricant degradation analysis generated four new ASTM Methods, and one new ASTM Standard Practice.

Thermal-Lube, together with its subsidiary SynBionic Evolution Inc. has taken our expertise developed in lubricant technology and used this knowledge to formulate unique water-based polymer adjuvants used in various Agricultural Industries. These non-toxic and OMRI approved polymers form a protective flexible micro-skin on crops and leaves, shielding them from air-borne spores, sunburn, and frost. This skin also reduces the number of chemical treatments required for each crop cycle by encompassing these chemicals within the polymer film. We have seen remarkable success from banana and coca plantations in Ecuador to cannabis greenhouses and vineyards in the USA to blueberry crops and apple orchids in Canada. We are currently developing a similar polymer film infused with an EPA approved antimicrobial that when sprayed onto a clean surface substrate will not grow mold for extended periods of time.
