The purpose is to keep sediment and debris out of the storm sewer, while maintaining safe vehicle traffic.2.0 Material:2.1 The Road Drain- Top Slab model consists of a structurally certified, reinforced steel plate, riser pipe with lid, and filter media placed over the riser pipe.2.2 The Road Drain-Top Slab model shall meet OSHA Standard 1910.23 and 1926.503 for vehicle traffic. The Top Slab design allows for vehicle traffic up to 20,000 lb axle loads.2.3 The Road Drain-Tops Slab model will allow the ability to recess the drain tube during construction and allow for vehicle traffic.2.4 The filter media shall meet all local specifications for inlet protection.2.5 The riser pipe shall have 2” drain holes for filter and overflow.3.0 Installation:3.1 Place the Road Drain –Top Slab model directly on the top of structure or on engineer approved adjusting rings.3.2 Install gasket and cover center of gasket with pipe grease or other approved lubrication.3.3 Place the filter media onto the riser pipe.3.4 Adjust filter media proper height for overflow.3.5 Check riser tube to make sure it is fully extended and all filter holes are exposed.4.0 Maintenance:4.1 Check filter media after each rain event. Clean or replace if sediment clogs filter.4.2 Remove sediment and debris from the base of the riser pipe to the width equal to the size of the Top Slab model.5.0 Method of Payment5.1 The quantity paid is for the actual number of Road Drain –Top Slab models installed and maintained, per location (inlet).6.0 Basis of Payment:6.1 The unit price shall include labor, equipment and materials necessary to install and maintain the Road Drain Top Slab model.6.2 Payment for each installation location shall be made at the contract price for:Item Unit DescriptionRoad Drain-Top Slab Ea Type A inlet device, model # RD27 or RD23
