The sensor emits abeam of 850 nm near infrared light into the sample where itis sca0ered by par/cles suspended in the water. The amountof back sca0ered light returning to the sensor is measuredand correlated to the turbidity or the amount of suspendedsolids in the sample. The TR6 response depends on the size,shape and composi/on of the suspended par/cles. For thisreason, mg/L, ppm and % Solids measurements must becalibrated with suspended solids from the waters to bemonitored. Turbidity measurements (NTU, FNU) can becalibrated with calibra/on standards such as Formazin,StablCal or SDVB beads.The Triton®TR6 is available in two op/cal configura/ons, onewith side mounted op/cs, the TR6-2 or -3 and the other withaxially front mounted op/cs, the TR6-1. These design op/onsaddress the fact that reflec/ve surfaces in the emi0ed lightsrange will yield ar/fically high readings. The side mountedop/cal configura/on minimizes interference from surfacesbelow the sensor while the axially mounted op/cs avoidinterference from surfaces around the sensor. A daylightrejec/on filter blocks sun light and reduces ambient-lightinterference. The axial front mounted op/cs of the TR6-1 aresurrounded with a copper ring that inhibits the growth ofalgae and other biological films.The Triton®TR6 sensors are dual range sensors, each having alow range output and a high range output. Either the highchannel or low channel can be displayed by simply switchingthe signal wire to the input card. The available Triton®TR6sensor ranges are;0-250 NTU with 0-1000 NTU0-500 NTU with 0-2000 NTU0-1000 NTU with 0-4000 NTU0-2000 NTU with 0-4000 NTUThe Triton®TR6 sensors are designed to work with the C22analyzer or T80 transmi0er. The T80 is a single channeltransmi0er while the C22 can be configured as a single or dualchannel turbidity/suspended solids instrument. The C22allows the turbidity/suspended solids measurement to becombined with any of the other standard measurements, pH,ORP, pIon, Conduc/vity or Dissolved Oxygen.Installa/on is accomplished with a 1” stand pipe forimmersion service or with the PVC flow cell for an in line flowthrough applica/on. Either op/cal configura/on is suitable forimmersion service while only the Side Mounted op/calconfigura/on is suitable for in line service.The standard cable is water resistant 5 conductor cable. It isavailable with 10 , 20 or 30 (9.1 meters) lengths. Anop/onal waterproof cable is available for immersion orsubmersion applica/ons. The TR6 is suitable for submersionto depths of 500 meters.Designed for use in environmental water, the Triton®TR6 issuitable for most aqueous applica/ons. It is not suitable foruse in organic solvents or in solu/ons with an extreme pHvalue, only use when the pH is between 2-12 pH.
