Type 100 - Precision Air Pressure Regulator Brochure

Type 100 PrecisionAir Pressure RegulatorAccurate, stable and dependable pressure regulationThe Type 100 is a high precision, multi-stage pressureregulator. This pressure controller provides the highestlevel of regulation accuracy and repeatability available. The Type 100 is ideal for applications that call for theutmost in control and maximum stability under variableoperating conditions. A stainless steel measuring capsule isused as a sensing element to activate the high gain servobalanced control mechanism in which the main valve iscontrolled by a pilot valve. This allows for greater accuracyand eliminates many of the problems associated with con-ventional regulators using range springs and diaphragms.F E A T U R E S•Accurate Pressure RegulationControls output pressure to within 0.1% accuracy. Regulatedpressure variation as small as 0.01 psig is self corrected•Stable OutputSubstantial changes in flow have virtually no effect on regulat-ed pressure from dead end to 12 SCFM.•Dependable StartupReturns the regulated pressure to its original output settingeven after long “down time”•High Relief CapacityAn optional high flow relief valve provides quick responsewhen regulated pressure is reset to a lower value or when thereis a large amount of system back pressure to be relieved•Temperature StabilityA stainless steel measuring capsule which activates the servo-control mechanism minimizes effects on regulated pressure bywide variations in operating temperature.•Locking CapabilityLocking nut prevents inadvertent pressure adjustmentApplicationsThe Type 100 is well suited for processes thatrequire precise regulation of air pressure inpipes and vessels. The Type 100 is often used, but not limited to the following applications:Diagnostic Controls Medical InstrumentationPrecision Fluid Control VentilatorsMicrofluidics Gate ActuatorsAir Gauging Roll LoadingGas Mixing Valve OperatorsCalibration Standards Cylinder LoadingAir Hoists Web TensioningModelsType 100 Standard version relief–offered in threepressure ranges (2-40 psi, 2-60 psi,2-120 psi) and three port sizes(1/8", 1/4", 3/8").Type 100HR High relief capacity allows for quick“blow-down” capability for rapid exhaustof output pressure. Ideal for pneumaticcounterbalance applications.Type 100LR Low range capability provides accuratepressure regulation at lower output range.Operates with an output pressure rangeof 0.5 psig to 25 psig. Maximum supplypressure is 50 psig.Type 100PL Linear actuation of a plunger controlsregulated pressure rather than manualadjustment of a knob.Type 100BP Bottom ported supply and output pressure,as well as four tapped mounting holes formanifold mounting. Suitable for applicationswith limited space.Type 100M Motorized regulator. Regulation accuracyand sensitivity of the Type 100. Suitable forremote, "fail in place" applications. Stainlesssteel alloy construction gives the measuring capsule the ability tomaintain forces over long periods of time without hysteresis. Thiseliminates problems associated with regulators that are controlledby a range spring. The downstream regulated pressure fills thecontrol chamber and surrounds the measuring capsule. Expansion, contraction, or other slight movement of the capsule causes thepilot valve to open or close. This creates a substantial pressurechange within the pilot pressure chamber. The change in pilot pres-sure is directly proportional to the downward force on the pilotdiaphragm which causes the appropriate movement of the supplyvalve or relief valve and corrects any variation from set pressure. The high gain nature of this servomechanism allows the Type 100to react to changes in set pressure as little as 0.01 psig.Regulated pressure applies an upward force on the underside ofthe control diaphragm. When set pressure drifts above the set pointthe control diaphragm assembly moves upward and allows excesspressure to be vented out of the relief valve to atmosphere. Thedesign of the relief valve permits substantial reverse flow capacitywhich quickly exhausts system back pressure thus eliminating theneed for a separate relief valve.WarrantyControlAir, Inc. products are warranted to be free from defects in materials andworkmanship for a period of eighteen months from the date of sale, provided saidproducts are used according to ControlAir, Inc. recommended usages.
