And the separation is for the Macromolecular of the Substances in the liquor. The membrane filtration process is the liquor separation (based on the principle of the Mechanical screening) with the drive power from the two sides of the UF modules pressure differences. Operational pressure range is 0.1~0.3MPa, pore size range is 0.05~0.2µm, MWCO with approx 50~1000KD. The difference between normal filtration and pore filtration: 1 Small pore size and almost cutoff all of bacteria, heat source, virus, colloid atom, protein and Macromolecules organic 2 The membrane pore size, Dissolved particles size and form( soft or strong), liquor chemical characteristic(PH etc) and element, and so on. All of them will affect the membrane separation. 3 There is no block material and less accumulates on the membrane surface during the treatment process, and the speed of filtration will get the balance no continuous attenuation in the stable situation. But the cutoff rate of modules will be low when treat the macromolecules organic liquor. 2.2 Hollow fiber membrane and modules: Hollow fiber membrane is one of the membrane filtration types, the membrane is in capillary pipe and the pore covers the pipe surface which makes the other material pass or no through it. There are two types of the modules (Out-to-In and In-to-In) The hollow fiber membrane modules with housing, seal, end cap, center pipe(In-to-Out without center pipe), water distribution devices(In-to-Out without) and hollow fiber membrane. Chapter 4 Ultra-filtration System Design 4.1 Selection principle of the membrane module design (1)if the influent water quality is designed as surface water,20? is the influent water temperature. (2)Flux can be determined according to figure 3-4, and adjusted according to raw water, water quality or testing result. 4.2 Membrane capacity of water and water temperature As the liquid viscosity will change with temperature, for any ultra-filtration membrane module, under any work pressure, the filter flow or the permeated membrane pressure difference will change significantly with temperature. Parameters can be according to: (1) Flow :Anti-washed membrane flux is 50~100L/m2.h,and then converts into the membrane flow and multiplies by the number of single component devices; (2) Pump lift:usually 20~30mH2O; (3) The Material flow of pump should be Stainless Steel. 4.3.1.3 Sodium Hypochlorite Dosing device For enhancing the effect of anti-washing of ultra-filtration device and inhibiting bacteria within membrane, sodium hypochlorite can be added. Sodium hypochlorite dosing device including, (1)Plus kits (2)Metering Pump:determine the flow of metering pump according to the concentration of sodium hypochlorite –50ppm, the pressure =0.3Mpa. 4.3.2 Chemistry Enhancing Cleaning System(CEB) For special or poor quality of raw water, it is proposed to add chemicals, enhancing the process of cleansing when running in the system. Chemical strengthening of cleansing, the acid can be used depending on the quality of raw water to choose hydrochloric acid, oxalic acid or citric acid and so on. Chemical Dosing acid to cleanse the device with the following equipment, (1)Plus kits (2)Metering Pump: determine the flow of metering pump according to the concentration of acid in the water (0.5% citric acid solution, acid solution or HCl solution), pressure>0.3MPa 4.3.2.2 Dosing washing device In order to prevent pollution of the ultra-filtration membrane caused by organic matter and biological activity, a certain concentration of alkali solution is suggested to add. The recommended concentration of alkali solution is 0.1% NaClO +0.5% NaOH solution. Chemical Dosing base to cleanse the device with the following equipment: (1)Plus kits (2)Metering Pump: determine the flow of metering pump according to the concentration of alkali in the water (0.1% NaClO + 0.5% NaOH), pressure>0.3MPa 4.3.3 Chemical Cleaning System Ultra-filtration trans-membrane pressure rises 1.0bar(in the same temperature)compared to the initial. This is good for long stabilization of membrane flux. The first run or recovering run after long time stop needs rinse to remove the protection solution. The start should be manual. When all of the velocity and pressure, time set, the equipment should come back to auto. PLC system can monitor the run of system effectively. If the operating conditions lack, the equipment will take protecting measures. Basically steps involved, 1) Start water pumps; 2) fill the device with water and rinse; 3) Start anti-washing pump; 4) Set and adjust the pressure of anti-laundering; 5) Set and adjust the intake pressure; 6) set time interval of anti-wash; 7) set time interval of gas scrubbing; 8) Set anti-washing order of the parallel device. 5.1.1 Checking contents of the pre-start 1) Ultra-filtration pre-treatment system operating properly, clean lines, water ultra-filtration with the design requirements; 2) Drainage systems have been ready; 3) Good instrument of work; 4) PLC program has been input; 5) Circuit system checks have been completed 5.1.2 Start Check before start, 1) all valves are shut down; 2) all pumps are shut down. 5.1.2.1 UF Modules flush related valves mark and flow sheet 1) open the forward direction washing discharged valve AV3 and production water return valveV4; 2) start water pumps; 3) adjust ultra-filtration device inlet valve AV1,keep low water pressure(<1.0bar); 4) keep washing until there is no bubble, then the pre-start preparation finish. 5.1.2.2 Startup Programs PDF ???? The adjustment of gas washing pressure Open concentrated water valve V2; Open the forward direction washing discharged valve AV 3; Open the intake valve AV6 slowly until the inlet pressure to 1bar 5.1.2.3 Automatic control When all of the flux pressures are set up by manual control, the equipment needs to be shut down, and restart by auto control. 1 Close all control switch, switch manual control to automatic; 2 Start ultra-filtration devices; 3 Adjust the protection switch of water production pressure. When the pressure is higher than settings, the forward direction washing discharged valve AV3 start automatically. 5.2 Stop procedure 5.2.1 Manual control 1 Open the forward direction washing discharged valve AV3, wash for 15 seconds; 2 Shut down inlet water valve AV1 slowly; 3 Shut down original water pump P1. 5.2.2 Auto-control PDF ????
