BSS Hochspannungstechnik GmbH develops and manufactures advanced partial discharge monitoring systems and UHF sensors for power transformers and other critical assets used in electrical power systems. Our technologies enable reliable condition assessment and help to increase the operational safety of power grids, reduce maintenance costs, and prevent unplanned outages. The systems can be flexibly integrated – both into existing SCADA environments and as stand-alone solutions – and are intuitively operated via modern web interfaces.

Our Team

Behind our products is a dedicated team with a scientific background in the field of high-voltage technology, particularly in the diagnostics of electrical equipment. Our team also combines expertise in analog circuit design, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), signal processing, and modern software development.

As a small and well-coordinated company, we rely on flat hierarchies, short decision-making paths, and a corporate culture that encourages responsibility, openness, and pragmatic action. This enables us to make decisions efficiently and to implement our projects in a targeted, flexible, self-directed, and fast manner.

Our Roots

BSS Hochspannungstechnik GmbH was founded in 2013 by doctoral researchers from the Institute of Power Transmission and High Voltage Technology (IEH) at the University of Stuttgart. The initial aim was to translate research insights into practical solutions for industry. To this day, this scientific and technical foundation shapes our approach – grounded, application-oriented, and driven by innovation. Our close connection with the IEH continues and enriches our development through ongoing exchange with academic research.
