WaterMiner and fracing make-up sources
April 2013Potential new marketWaterMiner™ treated Municipal sewage water for use as Fracing Make-up water.A recent WaterWorld webcast on the Fracing water use and reuse issue confirmed and detailed quite well a big and growing challenge in the global fracing industry. Two issues came forward: the public optical cost and the raw financial cost of sourcing clean fresh water for use as frac-fluid make-up waterthen secondarily cleaning the water after it has been used. Checking the boxesWe believe there may be a very nice business utilizing cleaned municipal sewage water for fracing make-up water. Good for Gas Company: This water has the ability to minimize the public optics problem of gas companies currently utilizing high demand pure fresh for their projects and may be more cost effective for the gas company. Good for municipality: generates a new revenue stream and removes mass and/or hydraulic loading from stressed WWTP adding years of service life of facility. Treated Sewage use for gas wellsWaterMiner™ stages at municipal WWTP or local sewage lagoon and scalps required volumes to service gas company needsMutual BenefitGas companies use low perceived value water Towns WWTP or ponds switch from cost center to profit center through sale of water to gas co.Municipality reduces raw sewage loading on the WWTP or ponds adding additional operational life and or beefs up treatment results at WWTP or pond HOW-business planMunicipality owns and operates WaterMiner™ equipment and charges higher per litre water fee to gas co. Gas company or Boydel Licensee; owns and operates portable WaterMiner™ plant and routinely moves it to nearest WWTP or pond to the well project, and pays a fee to municipality for raw feedstock accessHOW- operationally WaterMiner™ sources raw sewage immediately behind grit and trash removal headworks and or from top half layer of lagoon water.WaterMiner™ cleans and disinfects sewage at the same time.Water tankers load right at WWTP site If WWTP is in populated area and truck traffic an issue 3 inch continuous pipe could be laid in the existing sewer mainlines out to industrial area or to edge of municipality and cleaned water is pumped from WWTP to this remote tank truck loading zone. This may be acceptable to municipality as it is a revenue generator for them. No new trenching required. This may allow pipe line to access a rail siding. Cleaned water shipments interlined on railcar much cheaper to nearest truck access offload to well site. Note: This may also be a backhaul for the rail company which would be returning to load more crude?Cleaned water is trucked to well site receiving tanks to stockpile for fracing event.NOTE: we have been able to specifically operate our WaterMiner™ to produce an effluent that will maintain a chlorine residual for up to 15 days; confirming disinfection. This would allow for the time needed to source and store all water needed for the frac event. However, a second WaterMiner™ staged at tank storage site would re-circ stored water through secondary zone only to continually dose additional chlorine in to the stored water. We believe WaterMiner™ is the only instant on continuous sewage treatment technology that can clean raw sewage to under 20 TSS mg/l while at the same time disinfect it.
