Brief company history

1919
Aluminiumfoundry started by Mr. W. Dan Bergman in Södertälje, Sweden. Production of household items.

1939
The company has grown into an Aluminum and Magnesium foundry. Production of military goods and parts for airplanes. Major customer – Bofors AB

1943
WEDA, acquired by Bofors AB three years earlier, now has a Swedish pump manufacturer as customer- Flygt.

1957
Flygt starts it’s own foundry. Weda introduces it’s own brand of submersible pumps - the Weda pump.

1969
WEDA employs 700 people making WEDA the biggest employer in Södertälje

1975
The company introduces it’s first swimming pool cleaner – a pump with a brush and rod attached to it

1981
Weda introduces it’s first automatic pool cleaner – the B600

1986
Introduction of the B400 series of automatic pool cleaners

1992
Production of pumps sold to Svedala.

1998
Weda Pump is forced to change it`s name to Svedala and the Svedala RL-Range and RC-Range (as a completion on the existing RV-Range) is a fact.

2002
Due to the merger of Svedala to the current Metso Organization, Weda Pump gets it`s name back. The existing type numbers RL and RC stay.

2003
Dutch Pump dealer Delta Pompen BV starts Wedapump.com internet site to support global users of Wedapump in their effort to make better and better use of the Weda Pump products.
