Mr. Snyder introduced Mike Green who ' recently replaced Ron Morrow as th,e Environmental Serviees Manager for the olty, Mr. Green is. presently the manager of the Willamette River drinking water treatment facility operated for tne CIty under contract with US Filter. His responsibilities have been expanded to cover the wastewater plant also for now. Mr. Green ,a4Xompanled Mr, Snyder and Ion a plant walk through to leam more about ooncerns at thIs site. The headworks continlJe to have ongoing maintenance 1ssues and provide a SOUTce for IJncqntrolied fl1g1tl~e qd()rs. Mr. Snyder noted that the biofiter continues to work well for addressing odors captured off the solids storage basins. The wood chip volume has been reduced by nearly a quarter since the biofilterwas put in service. No current plans to add additional media at this time. Grease issues are most apparent in the aeration basin where surface foam accumulates over the anoxic area of the basin. Persistent foam is often seen In assooiation with grease JOlling I bacteria {like Nocardia). The surface foam is routin~ly broken up but takes little time to reb~ild. If left, the foam can develop Into an odor problem as it degrades, Mr, Snyder pointed out the clanfier sweep n ,... >;c:: o...., E Ul o :;) < ro f"Tl :;) ;;; x ~ VJ I Vl 25 I ~ r-v attached wash sysl~m.
