1968
The newly founded Zetec won its first government contract to inspect steam generator tubing. The data inspectors used Zetec’s first analog, single-frequency eddy current tester, a state-of-the-art instrument at that time. As nuclear power flourished commercially in the 1970′s and 1980′s, the young start-up company applied its eddy current testing technology to support customers around the world who were designing and building power plants. Zetec’s eddy current equipment, training, and methodology became recognized as the worldwide standard for inspection in the power generation industry. Since then, Zetec has become the leader in NDE, first in nuclear power, then in balance-of-plant and process industry applications. The company has expanded its application of eddy current technology into ultrasonic, remote field and magnetic flux leakage testing. Originally headquartered in Issaquah, Washington, Zetec created their first analog testers in small offices and even in an old dairy barn. The original testers utilized reel-to-reel recorders and simple robotic positioners; Zetec products have advanced enormously. Today, Zetec offers a full line of state-of-the-art eddy current inspection systems as well as ultrasonic testers, robotics, software, scanners, and probes.

2002
Acquired by Roper Technologies in 2002, Zetec gained access to greater financial resources, marketing alliances with the complementary engineering expertise of other Roper companies, and an expanded international distribution channel. Under the Roper umbrella, Zetec continues to be operated and managed as an independent company.

2004
R/D Tech started in 1989 after winning a Canadian government contract for component inspection and grew to become the world’s leading innovator in Phased Array Ultrasonic and eddy current array NDE products. In 2004 Zetec acquired the power generation assets for eddy current and ultrasonic technologies from R/D Tech to be able to offer customers a comprehensive NDE product line for all applications. This acquisition brought 100 new employees with extensive industry background to the Zetec organization, resulting in an expanded technology base.

2005 - 2017: NDT Expansion, Global Footprint

Zetec moves into a new, expanded headquarters in Snoqualmie, Washington. The company begins to expand its international footprint, with offices in Quebec City, Quebec; Paris, France; Seoul, Korea; Shanghai and Beijing, China; and Tokyo, Japan. Zetec leverages its inspection leadership and expertise in power generation, and expands its reach to meet the critical inspection needs of industries the world counts on every day including Oil and Gas, Aerospace, Military, Rail, and Manufacturing.

In 2017, Zetec moves into an expanded European headquarters in France. The move enables Zetec to better handle the regional growth the company has been experiencing, and more effectively serve customers and its distributor network in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India.

2018 - 2021: Breakthrough Inspection Innovations
