2013 A.D. Latornell Conservation Symposium
The A.D. Latornell Conservation Symposium is one of Ontario’s premier annual environmental events. It provides a forum for practitioners, policy makers, nongovernment organizations, academics and businesses to network and discuss the challenges and opportunities in Ontario’s conservation field.
The theme of the 2013 Symposium is:
Resilience – The ability to adapt to change
Resilience building allows us to anticipate and adapt to ongoing challenges and enables us to cope and even thrive in the face of change. The outcomes from such an approach will be robust ecosystems, sustainable economies and healthy people. Delegates attending the 20th A.D. Latornell Conservation Symposium will learn how to build local resilience to continue to manage towards a sustainable future.
What is the A.D. Latornell Conservation Symposium?
The A.D. Latornell Conservation Symposium was started in 1993 to provide a forum for practitioners, students, academics, politicians and non-government organizations to discuss salient challenges and opportunities in the conservation movement in Ontario and to learn new tools, techniques and strategies for natural resources management. Since then, the Symposium has grown to be Ontario`s most prestigious and well-attended annual conservation conference.
The Exhibitor`s Gallery and Conservation Dome offer first class facilities to attract a wide variety of displays from businesses, government, non-government organizations, special interest groups and educational institutions. At last year`s Symposium, the following groups exhibited:

The A.D. Latornell Conservation Symposium offers two large, well-located exhibit areas, i.e. the Exhibitor`s Galleries A & B and the Conservation Dome. These exhibit areas are the venues for special events, plenary sessions, meals and refreshment breaks, thereby providing the exhibitors with a high level of exposure to the delegates throughout the event.
Networking, information sharing and great learning opportunities are a few of the benefits offered by the A.D. Latornell Conservation Symposium.
In 2012, 156 speakers and close to 900 delegates were involved in presentations, plenary sessions, workshops and other activities at the Symposium. The delegates of the Symposium were represented in the following sectors:
