5 Unique Features of Ecomondo
- It is the platform of reference for the Mediterranean basin dedicated to the principal European and international strategies for ecological innovation and the transformation of waste into a resource.
- It is the ideal forum where exhibitor companies can meet competing enterprises, national and international public/private partners and new target clients from industry, services, construction, public service administrations and utilities.
- It is the most extensive showcase in the whole of the Mediterranean area where the most efficient technical solutions for the correct management and exploitation of waste in all its forms are on display, as well as those for water-saving measures, for the efficient use of waste and raw or secondary materials, and for energy efficiency.
- It is the principal B2B and R2B meeting point for operators in the Mediterranean Basin where national and international experts can delve into the technical problems linked to the management of waste in the priority industrial sectors (ground, air), environmental protection and restoration, sustainable transport and the technological priorities of smart cities.
- It is the highly qualified hub for national and international Training - Information - Refresher Courses - Innovation - Research and Development
The development of renewable energies, energy saving, and green innovation for products and processes are the foundations for change. In the words of European Commissioner for the Environment Potocnick 'renewed European economic growth will depend greatly upon our innovative and creative ability and must be fostered at every level of the active population'.
Ecomondo brings to the Exhibition the European companies which are working in this direction and has proved itself to be the most highly accredited platform in the Mediterranean Basin for the exploitation and re-use of materials, and owes its success to a sensible and profitable mixture of the commercial dimension and the cultural and techno-scientific dimension, with a large area dedicated to INNOVATION in the sector of the Green Economy.
Expo Sectors
WASTE - WASTE TREATMENT MACHINERY
The Complete Waste Cycle is the Core Business of this event. The scarce supplies of raw materials and the impoverishment of the environment, in addition to the high procurement costs make the re-use and treatment of materials an increasingly profitable activity, and in keeping with the provisions of current applicable European Directives.
Rimini will be hosting the most significant platform for equipment and machinery for the treatment of all types of waste.
A special focus on the selection and recovery of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap and its preparation for sale, highlighting the worn tyre supply chain, the treatment of special and hazardous waste, the recovery of WEEE and critical minerals, the recovery of end-of-life vehicles and the re-use of every single component.'
The various conferences will cover critical areas and the further potential of the Integrated Sustainable Management Systems and the tools for the approval of the various systems through Waste Life Cycle Assessment (LCA, LCC), Risk Analysis (RA), Integrated Environmental Monitoring System (SIMA) in a context of Industrial Ecology.
WASTE - RECYCLING AND SERVICES
Ecomondo is the B2B event for operators in the Mediterranean Basin on the most effective technological solutions to handle correctly and exploit waste in all its forms, as well as on the efficient use of resources and secondary raw materials.
It showcases innovative technologies and approaches for the collection, management and recovery of waste. The focus is on the complete Waste cycle - identification, segregated collection, management, recycling and energy exploitation of waste, including the recovery of inert waste - noble metals - critical minerals, domestic and industrial WEEE.
The Integrated waste management system is based on the recovery and recycling of waste: plastic, glass, wood, rubber, etc. Integrated processes for the management of organic waste aimed at the recovery of materials and energy.
WASTE - COLLECTION AND REMOVAL
Considering the importance of road transportation of waste in Italy, and the focus placed on the safety of vehicles and on their environmental impact, this section has the objective of presenting industry specialists with all the major technological innovations, the latest new patents and excellent new products from the market of solid and liquid waste collection and removal vehicles, as well as cisterns for cleaning wells and hazardous waste. A broad range of skips and compactors for segregated waste collection and storage units of various types and for different uses will also be presented, for street furniture, domestic and special waste collection, with attention not just to functionality, but also to design and to the materials used.
Plenty of space will be dedicated to vehicles for road and industrial cleaning and maintenance.
There will also be an exhibit of the entire range of industrial and/or special vehicles for the collection and disposal of solid and liquid waste.
For the most part, these are Italian manufacturers ranked as leaders in this sector, offering their production range across all continents, in Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa and Oceania.
BIO-BASED INDUSTRY
One of the emerging industrial areas of Ecomondo is Italian and European Bio-based
industry i.e. multi-product biorefineries (which produce several chemical compounds and biogas) and
non-food biomass refineries, from wood cellulose and from organic waste, to be introduced in abandoned
industrial areas. Reduction of food wastage, efficient energy use and transformation of the food industry
including the integrated exploitation of its by-products and waste.
RECLAIM EXPO
Reclaim Expo, 'International Exhibition on Advance Reclamation Technologies for Contaminated Sites': application of sustainable bio-monitoring technologies, on site, in Europe and Italy and technological innovation. These are the topics addressed at the sixth Reclaim Expo, in 2013. The aim of the exhibition is to create moments of discussion between researchers, technicians and planners engaged in clean-up, conversion and rehabilitation of abandoned former industrial sites in Italy. In partnership with the major key players in the industry: Federchimica, Unione Petrolifera, Ministry of the Environment, Ispra, Syndial, ISS, SusChem, Italy Environmental Biotechnology section of the European Federation Technology and others.
GLOBAL WATER EXPO (INTEGRATED WATER CYCLE)
Global Water Expo is the new exhibition section dedicated to all stages in the integrated water cycle supply chain, from collection to its return to the environment. Attention will be dedicated to qualitative and quantitative aspects of technology in relation to collection, purification for drinking and other purposes, distribution, sewerage and disposal or reuse.
An important conference section will be dedicated to the management and purification of waste water, urban and industrial, and of rainwater. This will illustrate the current markets and those of the near future, Italian and foreign, and the ready-to-market techniques, applied in demo systems and ready to increase the efficiency of systems on a vast scale. Also invited will be stakeholders making ready to remedy great infrastructural deficiencies in the management of waste water, coming both from Italy (i.e. regions undergoing the procedure envisaged for violations) and abroad (i.e. the Balkans, Middle East, South America, Mediterranean, India and China).
Air
AIR, for 2015, there are new applicable European and Italian regulations; Innovation in the systems for the control, treatment and monitoring of outdoor and indoor pollution and odours. The exhibition dedicated to the air industry covers significant topics such as those related to urban and industrial sources, the regulatory aspects (Directives 2010/75/EC, 2008/50/EC and the applicative decrees for prevention and environmental surveillance activities and the treatment and purification technologies for the effluents produced, with the aim of showcasing the state of the art. The topic of residential indoors will be dealt with, since it is attracting the attention of the industry and of the public. Health and hygiene aspects will be examined (WHO guidelines) as well as design aspects (choice of materials, labelling, ventilation).
