Emerging Laboratory Technologies Conference 2016

SHARE

The NEWEA Lab Practices Committee is soliciting a Call for Abstracts covering Emerging Laboratory Technologies for the Specialty Conference on May 3, 2016 at the Narragansett Bay Commission in Providence, RI.

This conference will focus on instrument technologies and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and will also include a tour of the Narragansett Bay Commission’s laboratory and wastewater treatment facility.

A Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) is software that allows analysts to effectively manage samples and associated data to improve lab efficiency. By using a LIMS, laboratories can automate workflows, integrate instruments and manage samples and associated information.

Abstract Topics:

  • New or Improved Instrumentation (reduce labor time, cost-savings, better data quality)
  • Improved ways of monitoring plant operations and effluent quality
  • The Challenge: The practicality and affordability of LIMS for a small wastewater lab
  • Do’s and Don’ts….Lessons learned with LIMS- First Hand experience requested
  • LIMS applications/benefits for plant managers
  • QA/QC Benefits for Audits and Chemical Hygiene plans
  • Electronically submitted Discharge Monitoring Reports and LIMS applications
  • Data Integrity/Ethics
  • Sample tracking
  • Electronic Notebook applications- Integrations of SOP’s
  • Integrating Robotics/auto analyzers and lab equipment with data interfaces directly to LIMS
  • LIMS interfaces with commonly used SCADA and accounting software
  • Installation, integration, maintaining and upgrading LIMS
