Environmental Technology event launched by the ARABLAB Group
Dubai - The ARABLAB Group, organizer of the ARABLAB Show, has today unveiled a new environmental technology exhibition, ENVIROTEC. The event, which will run alongside next year’s ARABLAB exhibition (23-26 March), will provide specialist exhibitors with a highly focussed platform to market their products to an equally specialist group of visitors.
Commenting on the launch David Domoney, Managing Director of The ARABLAB Group, said; “We took the decision to launch ENVIROTEC in response to the steadily growing interest in the environmental technology sector from many of the existing ARABLAB exhibitors. The move will allow ARABLAB to expand, taking in new exhibitors who will find a natural home under the ENVIROTEC umbrella.”
The format of ENVIROTEC will follow a similar profile to that of its well-established parent, with the show providing both exhibition space and a series of high-profile seminars. Over the 4 days the ENVIROTEC seminars will run in five themed channels.
The AIRTEC seminars, which will provide an effective learning source in clean air technology; the SOILTEC seminars, focussing on instrumentation in the soil testing sector; the POLLUTEC seminars, which will look at the analytical approach to a better environment; WASTETEC seminars providing a research source for controlled waste management; and finally the WATERTEC seminars which will look at efficient control and management for water quality.
ENVIROTEC will provide a platform for those companies producing tools and applications that can decrease material inputs, reduce energy consumption and emissions, recover valuable by-products and minimise waste. In general they are lean and resource-efficient technologies that can help to reduce the impact on the environment. Environmental technologies are about greening the economy and as such are the missing link between raising competitiveness in the world economy and making sure that development is sustainable.
The most recent European figures for the sector, attributes it with an estimated annual turnover of €227 billion or around 2.2% of the EU’s gross domestic product – outperforming the European aerospace or pharmaceutical industries – and directly employing 3.4 million people.
Meanwhile, the USA claims to be the world’s largest producer and consumer of environmental technologies. According to the latest figures available from the USA, the sector has approximately 119,000 enterprises which generates approximately $300 billion in revenues, $43.8 billion in exports, and supports close to 1.7 million jobs.
“We are excited about the launch of ENVIROTEC”, said David Domoney. “It is, I believe, a great step for the ARABLAB Group, an exciting one for the industries involved in environmental technologies, and puts Dubai and the United Arab Emirates at the forefront of this growing technology sector. We are looking forward to the first exhibition next year, and to growing the event in the years to come.”
