New trends in 3D maps, geoservices to improve mobility in cities and applications for mobile telephones have been presented at Globalgeo, International Geoinformation Show. It has brougth together leading experts to analyse the new business opportunities that are opening up in this field and has also host the 9th International Geomatic Week, one of southern Europe's most important scientific congresses in this speciality. The geoinformation market has great future prospects worldwide. In the United States, for example, it grows almost 35% a year and, according to Time magazine, professionals working in this field occupy one of the 100 best jobs in the country with the most future prospects. In Spain, this industry is in full development and in Catalonia alone there are over 100 companies dedicated to geospatial information technologies (GIS-GIT), which generate a turnover of over 200 million euros and around a thousand direct jobs.
