As several GCC countries rank in the top 10 waste producers in the world, the race to protect the environment and preserve living standards in the face of rapid development and a growing population is on. Dubai has revealed its ambition to take the lead in developing world-class waste management and recycling solutions by announcing the inauguration of the Middle East Waste Summit, being staged at Dubai Airport Expo between 26-28 May 2009. Held in association with UNEP, and under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and Industry and Chairman of Dubai Municipality, the Waste Summit will bring more than 6,000 industry leaders together for three days to debate, demonstrate and discover the solutions to meet this global challenge.

The Middle East Waste Summit Forum will deliver a panel of international and regional speakers to debate the hottest issues in waste and recycling management.

Top industry speakers will address current topics and challenges relevant to waste producing audiences including construction sectors, medical facilities, office environments and hospitality outlets and discuss recent case studies.
