Our commitment to sustainability policies are focused on promoting measures of energy efficiency, recycling, eco-design of stands and optimisation of services to minimise the environmental impact generated by trade fair and congress activity.

We are proud of having received recognition from the Global Association of The Exhibition Industry (UFI) and the Consejo Municipal de Medio Ambiente y Sostenibilidad of the Barcelona City Council, which have positioned us as a benchmark trade fair organisation in this field.

Corporate social responsibility means creating opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurs, fostering talent, responding to the expectations of our exhibitors and visitors, favouring the education and participation of our employees and collaborators and, naturally, contributing to a more just and supportive society.

Environment

Our good environmental practice protocol facilitates sustainable development of trade fair activity.

We promote recycling of waste (paper and cardboard, glass, packaging, etc.). Thanks to the agreement with Ecoembes, non-profit organisation made up of companies that are pro recycling, every year 1,000 tons are transported for subsequent recovery.

We offer our exhibitors the possibility of choosing ecological stands and a service to calculate and offset the

"carbon footprint", which identifies the sources of greenhouse gas emission inherent in every activity.

Fira is committed to renewable energies: the Gran Via Exhibition Centre has 25,900 photovoltaic solar panels that generate 5.86 GWh of electricity a year, avoiding the emission of over 2,200 tons of CO2.

The trade fair institution Fira is observer in the commission to position Barcelona as a sustainable and quality tourist destination. The city, supporter of UNESCO`s Responsible Tourism Charter, is certified as a Biosphere World Class Destination.
