Water and Wastewater

As a semi-arid country, Morocco suffers from an unequal distribution of its water resources in its territory.
To deal with the water stress, the National Water Plan (PNE) launched in 2005 aims to reduce water shortages by 2030 with a target of 325 million m3 of recycled water.

Waste Disposal and Recycling

While the Ministry of the Environment aims to make waste treatment a pole of economic development, some urgent actions still need to be put in place throughout the waste lifecycle: production - collection - treatment.

Energies

With a strong potential in renewable energies, notably wind and solar, the Kingdom aims to produce 40% of  its total electricity production thanks to renewable energies by 2020.

The organisation of the COP22 in Marrakesh recognised Morocco`s desire to make the development of clean energy a national priority.

Air Pollution

In 2018, Morocco is one of the countries with an air pollution situation very alarming according to the latest reports of the WHO. Therefore, in recent years, the government has put in place measures to limit this pollution, mainly due to accelerated industrial activities or heavy road traffic. Among these measures, the Law No. 13-03 and its implementing decree setting standards for air quality and air monitoring procedures.
