Research and High Level Conference on Governmental Use of Voluntary Standards

Around the world, a growing number of governments use voluntary standards to deliver on their own public policy objectives. This two day high-level conference is a space for representatives from governments and voluntary standards to discuss these practices, and start to identify how to work together more effectively. Drawing on case studies from around the world, we will explore the motivations behind governmental use of voluntary standards, the institutional arrangements between public authorities and voluntary standards systems, as well as the impacts expected and delivered through this collaborative approach.
