Amcor has partnered with Belgium-based De Ceuster Meststoffen NV (DCM) to deliver a recycle-ready, monomaterial polyethylene (PE) film for DCM’s fertilizer portfolio in Europe. The film contains 35% postconsumer recycled (PCR) content and replaces DCM’s earlier multimaterial packaging, which was not recyclable in existing recycling streams.

Available in sizes from 650 grams to 7 kilograms, the packaging provides high-performance, recycle-ready functionality while aligning with DCM’s broader sustainability objectives. Life cycle assessment data indicate that adopting film with 35% PCR reduces the carbon footprint by 17%.

The construction combines machine-direction oriented polyethylene (MDO PE) with a functional sealant layer. The MDO structure offers gas and moisture ingress protection while delivering high tensile strength and resistance to tearing or puncturing. The secure seal minimizes outer-layer deformation, and the film’s rigidity helps smaller packs remain upright on-shelf. A high-gloss finish enhances brand visibility at the point of sale.

Sustainability is a core pillar of DCM’s strategy, and this packaging development advances environmental goals alongside product quality. Amcor regards this packaging as a demonstration of commitment to circular packaging solutions, enabling brands to pursue sustainability objectives while preserving product protection and shelf appeal, and supporting customers across Europe in preparation for upcoming Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation requirements.
