IFAT 2026 in Munich, held in early May, served as a platform for baler manufacturers to display new equipment and engage with customers across the recycling sector.

Presona AB cited strong market interest post-event, noting a rapid shift toward smarter, connected, and energy-efficient solutions. The company underscored digitalization, data analytics, and proactive service as critical competitive differentiators. It also observed that demand remains robust for high-quality, long-lasting equipment despite pressure from low-cost competitors, and reaffirmed its commitment to high-end engineering, local service, and long-term partnerships. Attendees showed notable interest in a new baling wire offering from Presona.

Harris American Co. reported on its recent acquisition of GPS S.r.l., with GPS's portfolio including balers for ferrous and nonferrous metal recycling, as well as models used for recovered paper such as OCC.

Bollegraaf Group showcased its HBC 160S baler at IFAT 2026. Bollegraaf described the machine as benefiting from its 65 years of baling experience, with the latest upgrade easing maintenance access to enable faster, safer service. Key specifications include a pre-press flap, frequency-controlled main pumps, bolted Hardox wear plates, and anti-rat cabling.

Kadant Paal Ltd. participated in the event, reporting valuable exchanges with customers, partners, and industry professionals from around the world. The UK affiliate noted that the show facilitated discussion of market challenges and the strengthening of relationships with distribution and end users. Post-IFAT, Kadant Paal highlighted a recent installation at Willshee's Waste & Recycling in Burton, England, where the Konti 600 G baler was replaced with a Konti 500 J as the best-fit solution after more than a decade of service.

The Konti 500 J baler is described by Kadant Paal as delivering high throughput, increased bale weights, energy-efficient operation, and robust, durable construction with simplified operation and maintenance. The conversion at Willshee's contributed to annual material throughput exceeding 300,000 metric tons and supported 20 percent year-on-year growth for the site.
