Crime Scenes and Hazardous Conditions Left Behind Discussed in New Video
The IAQ Video Network, in association with Cochrane & Associates, LLC, has released a new educational video titled Crime Scenes and Hazardous Conditions Left Behind. The video explores potential risks such as bloodborne pathogens, biological fluids, chemical residues, soot and ash from fires, and various airborne and surface contaminants that can persist long after police tape is removed and media attention fades.
“Bacteria, viruses, chemicals, and toxins can threaten occupants, first responders, cleanup crews, and anyone who reenters a space without fully understanding what may still be present,” said Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane & Associates and the IAQ Video Network. “These hazards can seep into porous materials, linger in the air, or contaminate surfaces that appear clean but are not safe. For example, after an arson event there may be asbestos or lead-based paint debris, while drug-related incidents can leave behind dangerous residues or chemicals used to manufacture illicit substances. Environmental consultants often play a critical role in determining when a property can be safely reoccupied.”
This production was made possible with support from organizations committed to advancing public health and safety, including EMSL Analytical, LA Testing, Clark Seif Clark, Zimmetry Environmental, and others.
With more than 730 educational videos, nearly 15,000 subscribers, and over 7.7 million views to date, the IAQ Video Network continues to serve as a trusted resource for environmental, health, and safety information. The new video is available to view at: https://youtu.be/FmSzOO6qvjk
