DEVISE Smart Innovative Solutions for Water Recover & Reuse | Sewage Mining

DEVISE ENGINEERING is an experienced industrial company with longstanding international experience in the design & construction of water-wastewater treatment systems. In the framework of the project: INFRASTRUCTURE WORKS FOR THE REDEVELOPMENT OF FALIRO BAY, executed by the contracting company AKTOR S.A., DEVISE ENGINEERING was awarded and executed the Design, Supply, Construction, Start-Up and Commissioning of an Innovative Solution for the reuse of treated effluent of the main sewer of Athens municipality. The treatment unit is a Packaged & prefabricated (compact) Sewage Treatment Plant using advanced tertiary treatment technologies with ultra-filtration membranes (MBR). The plant capacity is 1.200 m3/day and the final produced water quality covers the requirements for unrestricted irrigation according to the Ministerial Decision (145116/2011 (FEK 354/Β` 8.3.2011). The purpose of this project according to Attica prefecture, is the exploitation and use of this water resource for irrigation purposes in the Greenery Redevelopment Project in Faliro Bay.

The Challenge

In the context of the Largest Green Regeneration Project in Attica, the utilization of water resources through recovery and reuse is an imperative and the proper design and implementation of the offered solution is of critical importance.
The benefits are multiple such as: environmental protection (reduction in the volume of effluents that end up in water recipients), saving water resources (principle of sustainability), energy savings and economies of scale.

The Solution

DEVISE Technical Solution for the Sewage Treatment facility in Eleonas reflects the technical expertise and know-how of the company as it is based in the state-of-the-art membrane bioreactor technology (MBR) which reliably guarantees the extensive treatment of wastewater.
The type of membranes that was selected is a true ultrafilter membrane that combines the best attributes of hollow fiber and flat plate membranes into a high-performance hybrid membrane.

The MBR system achieves the effluent quality according to the Effluent limits of treated sewage (Table 3 – Joint Ministerial Decision 145116/2011 - FEK 354/Β/8-3-2011).
