DNV GL and SOCAR sign partnership agreement

DNV GL and Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR’s Oil and Gas Scientific Research Project Institute have signed a partnership agreement and are opening a DNV GL Software Training Centre in Baku.

The new centre is dedicated for training engineers in the Sesam product line, DNV GL’s software for complete strength assessment for engineering of ships, offshore structures and risers, based on the finite element methodology.

The DNV GL Software Training Centre will be based in SOCAR’s Oil and Gas Scientific Research Project Institute. DNV GL’s Sesam software covers a structure`s entire lifecycle, delivering engineering software support in design, structural re-analysis systems, modifications and repair, input to the operational phase, emergency response and decommissioning. It is based on more than 40 years of development.

SOCAR (State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic) is involved in oil and gas exploration, production, processing, and transportation to domestic and international markets. SOCAR’s Oil and Gas Scientific Research Project Institute is extensively involved in field development and the design of oil and gas processing facilities. More than 80 laboratories and departments engaged in research, design, and engineering operate under the Institute.

The DNV GL Software Training Centre will provide easier access to Sesam training in the Caspian region.
