Draeger Safety UK awarded £1.8 million contract win by Southern Water
Draeger Safety UK has been awarded a five-year contract with Southern Water to supply its TotalCare service and maintenance package for fixed gas detection systems across the utility’s network.
The extended partnership covers more than 700 fixed gas detection systems across over 150 sites, including both clean water and wastewater operations. Dräger will replace older or end-of-life gas detection systems to ensure compatibility with new digital technology and connectivity solutions.
Charlie Robinson-Miller, Supplier Engagement & Contract Manager at Southern Water, said: “We have enjoyed an extremely supportive and productive partnership with Dräger for over 20 years and are very pleased to have formally renewed our working relationship. We take safety seriously and Dräger’s excellent fixed gas detection systems, combined with its UK service and maintenance team was the obvious choice for us. This agreement also helps us move ahead with our ambitious plans for investment in our network.”
Dräger’s TotalCare full-service package assigns its UK-wide service and maintenance team to all ongoing inspections and servicing of Southern Water’s fixed gas detection systems, including preventative maintenance, original spare parts, software updates and calibration, plus access to a technical support hotline and priority service.
Dräger’s UK service engineers—over 100 in the country—have completed full manufacturer and industry-specific training, and collectively perform more than 5,000 repair and maintenance jobs each month, supporting over 550,000 gas detectors and other safety devices.
The contract runs for five years with an option to extend for a further three years.
Bob Larkin, Service & Training Director at Draeger Safety UK, said: “We take great pride in the longevity of our partnership with Southern Water. We strive to offer customers complete peace of mind with our service and maintenance packages, and with one of the largest service and maintenance teams in the UK safety industry and our UK manufacturing centre in Blyth, Northumberland, we are extremely well-placed to deliver this to both the water sector and broader industry. It is testament to the commitment to excellence and the expertise of our colleagues across the business that we have been awarded this new enhanced contract.”
Dräger works with most of the world’s leading industrial players, including Shell and INEOS, as well as the military and emergency services, and operates in over 190 countries with a workforce of more than 16,000 colleagues worldwide.
