Gyms and Potential Exposure Risks Discussed in New Video
The IAQ Video Network, in association with Cochrane & Associates, LLC, has released a new educational video, Gyms & Potential Exposure Risks, examining how shared fitness spaces can expose people to microbes in the air, on surfaces, and in water systems.
“Gyms bring people into close contact, often breathing heavily and sharing equipment, which can increase opportunities for respiratory virus transmission, especially in crowded or poorly ventilated spaces,” said Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane & Associates and the IAQ Video Network. “Contaminated surfaces can also contribute to skin infections if proper hygiene isn’t followed.”
The video highlights risks in locker rooms, showers, hot tubs, and other damp areas, while emphasizing that simple precautions, like wiping equipment, washing hands, covering cuts, and maintaining good ventilation and cleaning, can significantly reduce exposure concerns.
This production was made possible with support from organizations committed to public health and safety, including EMSL Analytical, LA Testing, Clark Seif Clark, Zimmetry Environmental, and others.
With more than 735 educational videos, nearly 15,000 subscribers, and over 7.7 million views, the IAQ Video Network continues to be a trusted source for environmental, health, and safety information. The new video is available at https://youtu.be/oGhXnydo5Lc
