— Seabed remediation remains one of the most operationally complex and costly environmental requirements for Chile’s salmon producers. Moleaer Inc. and Semarco SpA are partnering to integrate nanobubble technology into remediation work across the country’s aquaculture sector, aiming to accelerate seabed natural recovery while improving the economics of remediation activities.

Chile’s salmon industry operates under strict environmental regulations with increasing scrutiny of benthic conditions beneath farming sites. As environmental expectations evolve, producers are pursuing solutions that restore seabed conditions more effectively and cost-effec tively.

Initial field deployments indicate that the approach may reduce remediation timelines and costs by approximately 20-30% compared with conventional remediation methods, driven by higher oxygen availability in affected sediments that accelerates the biological and chemical processes responsible for degrading accumulated organic material.

“Chile’s salmon industry has demonstrated a strong commitment to responsible environmental stewardship,” said Warren Russell, Chief Commercial Officer at Moleaer. “Our collaboration with Semarco shows that environmental performance and operational efficiency can advance together. By combining Moleaer’s nanobubble solutions with Semarco’s local remediation expertise, we can help producers restore seabed conditions faster while improving the economics of remediation.”

“Seabed remediation is a critical component of maintaining responsible aquaculture operations in Chile,” said Christian Fuentes at Semarco. “By integrating Moleaer’s technology with our maritime and environmental services capabilities, we can accelerate natural recovery processes in impacted sediments while improving the efficiency of remediation work for producers.”

Moleaer’s technology platform is engineered for large-scale environmental and water treatment applications, delivering reliable nanobubble generation at industrial operating volumes. The company is the most widely deployed nanobubble technology provider globally, with more than 10,000 installations in over 55 countries. In remediation contexts, the nanobubbles increase oxygen availability within targeted zones to support faster biological recovery of sediments.

  • Faster seabed recovery timelines
  • Improved oxygen stabilization within impacted sediments
  • Enhanced biological oxidation of accumulated organic material
  • Lower operational costs through more efficient remediation activities and reduced intervention time
  • Reduced fuel consumption during maritime remediation operations

Semarco operates across Chile’s salmon regions, including Los Lagos, Aysén, and Magallanes, and is listed in the official registry of Subpesca-authorized seabed remediation companies. Its multidisciplinary team comprises civil and aquaculture engineers, marine biologists, environmental specialists, and technical advisors with decades of experience supporting salmon producers in southern Chile.

The partnership is intended to scale the combined remediation approach across Chile’s salmon farming regions, leveraging Semarco’s maritime and environmental operations with Moleaer’s nanobubble technology to support large-scale seabed recovery programs.
