Trakref Joins UNPRI to Support Responsible Investing
Trakref is happy to announce that we have become signatories for the UNPRl. The PRI is the world`s leading proponent of responsible investment working to understand the investment implications of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors.
The UNPRI is an independent organization that encourages investors to use responsible investment to enhance returns and better manage risks, but does not operate for its own profit; it engages with global policymakers but is not associated with any government; it is supported by, but not part of, the United Nations.
At Trakref, we saw an opportunity to partner with UNPRI as a way to further our goals of creating a more sustainable future by reducing refrigerant emissions. We knew this was a natural partnership as we help companies achieve transparency in their ESG reporting and decrease the negative impact that fugitive refrigerant emissions can have on the environment.
By joining the PRI we have become a part of more than 1,400 signatories who agree to put into practice six important principles for responsible investing. These principles are:
- Principle 1: We will incorporate ESG issues into investment analysis and decision-making processes.
- Principle 2: We will be active owners and incorporate ESG issues into our ownership policies and practices.
- Principle 3: We will seek appropriate disclosure on ESG issues by the entities in which we invest.
- Principle 4 We will promote acceptance and implementation of the Principles within the investment industry.
- Principle 5: We will work together to enhance our effectiveness in implementing the Principles.
- Principle 6: We will each report on our activities and progress towards implementing the Principles.
The decision to join PRI came after a long review process and careful consideration. We believe it is our responsibility to engage in discussions of environmental policies on the world stage to represent our client voices. We want to ensure that policies created to address climate change include information on refrigerants and the impact that these have on our environment. We pride ourselves in bringing a unique and expert opinion on the ways in which refrigerants can be tracked and handled to prevent fugitive emissions.
