Wildfire Smoke: The Invisible Threat Highlighted in New Video
The IAQ Video Network, in association with Cochrane & Associates, LLC, has released Wildfire Smoke: The Invisible Threat, examining how these events impact air quality, even hundreds of miles away.
“Short-term exposure to wildfire smoke can cause coughing, sore throats, headaches, and eye irritation,” said Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane & Associates and the IAQ Video Network. “For children, older adults, pregnant women, and those with asthma, heart disease, or other respiratory conditions, the risks are significantly higher. Repeated or prolonged exposure has been linked to reduced lung function, cardiovascular issues, and increased hospitalizations.”
Smoke particles can infiltrate homes, schools, and buildings through windows, doors, vents, and small cracks. Once inside, they settle into carpets, furniture, clothing, and HVAC systems, and often remain long after the outdoor air clears.
Over time, this contamination can degrade indoor air quality, cause persistent odors, and become airborne again when disturbed. Smoke residue is also corrosive, potentially damaging electronics, appliances, and other sensitive materials.
This video was produced with support from organizations committed to public health and safety, including EMSL Analytical, LA Testing, Clark Seif Clark, and Zimmetry Environmental.
With more than 735 videos, nearly 15,000 subscribers, and over 7.8 million views, the IAQ Video Network remains a trusted source for environmental, health, and safety information. Watch the new video here: https://youtu.be/Ry0NZFJidjA
