The Vermeer® T858 COMMANDER® 3 hydrostatic trencher is a rugged rock-trenching solution. Within its class of track trenchers, the T858 COMMNADER 3 is the only offset trencher with a curved conveyor belt. This allows for better spoil discharge up to 56" (142.2 cm) in height with slower belt speeds. The T858 COMMANDER 3 offset capability gives utility, water, and sewer contractors the additional access to trench alongside jobsite obstacles such as guardrails, curbsides, buildings and walls with greater ease and precision.

Put the 350 hp (261 kW) Caterpillar C9 Tier 3 engine to the test on even the toughest trenching jobs. The Vermeer auto-tilt track system utilizes an oscillating frame that allows the track to follow the ground’s contour, ensuring a vertical trench on slopes up to 10 degrees. Combine these features with the TEC® Plus electronic control system and the Murphy PowerView electronic monitoring system, a Rotary Power headshaft motor, and the Vermeer worldwide dealer support network, and you’ll see why Vermeer is the proven leader in trenching applications.

The new TEC Plus electronic control system features CAN bus technology, which utilizes multiple control modules located throughout the machine for real-time performance data and advanced troubleshooting capabilities.

Elevating cab. The T858 COMMANDER 3 features an elevating cab and provides good visibility of the trench and spoil. The ROM cab structure can be mounted on either side of the machine and provides protection for the operator.

Large hydrostatic headshaft motor. The high-torque headshaft motor is designed for transmission of full horsepower 100 percent of the time.

Offset capability. The T858 COMMANDER 3 is the first in the 350 hp (261 kW) class of Vermeer hydrostatic trenchers with offset capabilities. Offset capability gives contractors the additional access to trench alongside jobsite obstacles.

Chain speed variability. A hydrostatic transmission provides a more precise range of cutting speeds, allowing the operator to better match the machine to the conditions.
