1. Fume Capture:

   • Contaminated air containing acidic fumes (such as hydrochloric acid [HCl], sulfuric acid [H₂SO₄], nitric acid [HNO₃], or hydrofluoric acid [HF]) is drawn into the scrubber using a centrifugal fan or blower.

2. Scrubbing Process:

   • The polluted air is passed through a scrubbing chamber, where it comes into contact with a neutralizing liquid, typically water or a chemical solution (such as caustic soda [NaOH] or lime slurry).

3. Gas-Liquid Interaction:

   • The scrubber contains spray nozzles, packed bed media, or venturi sections that maximize the contact between the acid fumes and the scrubbing liquid.
   • During this process, the acid gases dissolve in the liquid and undergo a neutralization reaction, converting them into harmless byproducts.

4. Mist Elimination & Clean Air Release:

   • The air then passes through a demister or mist eliminator, which removes any remaining liquid droplets before releasing clean, neutralized air into the environment.

5. Waste Collection & Disposal:

   • The used scrubbing liquid, now containing neutralized acidic residues, is collected in a sump and sent for proper wastewater treatment or disposal
