To produce our activated carbon, we only use sustainable raw materials – charcoal from hardwood and a sugar-water based binding agent from the domestic sugar beet industry. The doping materials are provided for the particular performance and may vary according to the application of the dopetac® products.

The doped activated carbon differs not only by the type of manufacture of the remaining activated carbons. Due to its particular properties, it has a high-performance potential.

As well as the good physical adsorption capacity, the chemical modification of dopetac® has a particular performance spectrum when taking up hydrogen sulphide by chemical adsorption.

The doping process has been developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Environment, Safety and Energy Technology UMSICHT. The production (link) of the doped activated carbon is done exclusively in our activated carbon factory. The brand name dopetac® for doped activated carbon and dopetac sulfo 100® for the desulphurising activated carbon have been protected by us as trademarks since 2006.

Dopetac sulfo 100® is an activated carbon developed especially for the desulphurization of gases. The main focus of the development was setting new standards in the area of desulphurization – higher performance of the activated carbon in desulphurization with usage conditions that are more broadly diversified.

Due to the particular, patented manufacturing process, an activated carbon emerged that combines the properties of other types of activated carbons. Impregnated activated carbons are additionally treated with various chemicals. In dopetac® the chemicals, the later catalysts for desulphurization, are already introduced during the manufacture of the activated carbon. They are thereby distributed homogeneously in the entire activated carbon matrix.

This provides 2 advantages in the use of the carbon:

  • The catalysts are able to be used effectively for the desulphurization of the gas. The high chargeability of the dopetac sulfo 100® is thus produced.
  • On the other hand, the entire pore system is freely accessible and available for the adsorption processes. That is the prerequisite for the rapid adsorption and transport processes and makes the dopetac sulfo 100® fast and reactive.

Also for the adsorption of siloxanes or hydrocarbons, the free pore system and the good general adsorption performance of the dopetac® are beneficial.
