Biotec BioplastModel 400 D -Advanced Starch-Based Biopolymer Compound

SHARE

Bioplast 400 D is an advanced starch-based biopolymer compound suitable for blown film extrusion applications, particularly ultra-light weight films with a thickness of approximately 10 μm, which makes it particularly good for making bags. It offers slightly more rigidity than other BIOPLAST flexible grades and is a PHA-containing grade. Because of these mechanical properties, it can also be used as a core layer in a multi-layer film.

General Applications

Bioplast 400 D is a versatile plant-based biopolymer with many applications. Here are some of the blown film applications:

  • Ultra-light single-use bags
  • Single-use bags
  • Multi-use bags
  • Technical films
  • Mailing films

Sustainability and biodegradability

Bioplast 400 D and has a bio-based carbon share of a 42% according to ISO 16620-2 or ASTM D6866. Products made with this grade are completely biodegradable and, depending on their thickness, are compostable according to EN13432 at both industrial and under well-managed home composting conditions (NF T51-800).

Processing

Bioplast 400 D was designed for use in blown film extrusion (LDPE or LLDPE). This grade is also printable. It can also be coloured with compostable masterbatches, is sealable (temperature, RF, ultra-sonic) and can be drawn to 10 μm with special equipment (profile control, etc.)
