Phillips & Temro - Air Intake Heaters
Air Intake Heaters, also known as grid and manifold heaters, provide solutions for diesel applications such as On-Highway, Off-Road and Power Generation. Powered by the vehicle battery, air intake heaters provide an on-board, stand-alone cold weather starting aid without driver intervention. This type of engine preheating is not only good for the environment but is also cost-effective. In addition to producing fast starts, air intake heaters also reduce white smoke (cold emissions), engine wear, battery consumption and fuel consumption during start up. Phillips & Temro’s air intake heaters are extremely durable and require minimal maintenance because they are designed and developed for each engine.
Sandwich
Installed between the intake manifold and the cylinder head. Used in multiple applications.
Integrated
Ideal for low space solutions that make use of existing components and typically built into an intake manifold casting.
Cartridge
Ideal option for engines offered in a variety of climates. Takes up a small amount of space and designed into a boss on the intake manifold.
Drop-In
Ideal for low space solutions nested into existing components. The drop-in heater is used in place of an integrated heater when mating components cannot be used.
- Uses 30% to 40% less energy than “cold cranking”
- Quick and reliable starts in cold weather
- Reduced ”white smoke” at engine start-up
- Durable maintenance-free design
- Customized configurations limit exposure to outdoor elements and road vibration
- 12 or 24 VDC
- Typical start time of 2 to 30 seconds
- Preheat mode: Combustion air is preheated to the temperature needed for fuel ignition during cold starts. Typical start times are between 2 – 10 seconds depending on ambient temperature
- Post-heat mode: The heater is energized after starting to reduce white smoke or hydrocarbon emissions
- Engineered with OEMs to integrate with the engine ECM
