AnguilAcid Gas Control - Wet Scrubbers

SHARE

The Anguil Acid Gas Scrubber neutralizes inorganic acids that often exist in a process exhaust stream or are created during the oxidation of air pollutants. The module can effectively scrub a variety of acids including Hydrogen Chloride (HCl),  Hydrogen Bromide (HBr), Hydrogen Fluoride (HF) and Sulfur Dioxide (SO2).

The acid containing stream is directed to a water quench located upstream of the scrubber module by an induced draft process fan located on the outlet of the scrubber. Within the quench, a re-circulation pump injects large volumes of water to cool the hot process stream, allowing the use of low-temperature materials of construction that are resistant to acid, such as Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP). Water then quenches the hot vapor and absorbs a portion of the acid. The gases exit the eductor and enter a countercurrent absorption column. Recirculation solution is fed to the top of the absorption column through a nozzle. The remaining acid vapors are absorbed into the solution while the gases pass through a mist eliminator before exiting the column. For most acid gases, sodium hydroxide, or another caustic, is added to control the pH in the sump to the neutral range.
