IPNR Endura - Model GF 16R -Anti Oxidation Refractory Frit
Carbon containing refractories are the most consumed products in iron & steel industries. MgO – C, Al2O3 – C, Al2O3 – SiC – C etc are the most common consumables in this category. They are applied in several areas like Ladle, converter also in flow control products. In these refractories carbon is usually used in the form of graphite, coke, pitch etc. However carbon is susceptible to oxidation during preheating, wherever required, which generates pores that subsequently penetrated by the molten metal and slag during the casting and refining operation. This eventually reduces the life of the refractories and increases the consumption of the refractories per ton of steel produced. Antioxidant coating mass reduces the oxidation of the carbon which increases the operation cycle of the lining.
Application:
The powder is applied in the form of coating. The coating material is prepared with the help of suitable binder material (phosphate, silicate binder etc.)
Storage and Packaging:
The product is available in 25 kg polyethylene stitched sacks .To avoid deterioration of packing it is recommended that product is stored in dry and shaded area.
Shelf Life:
Its shelf life is indefinite, if stored properly.
Antioxidant Coating mass is applied over the carbon containing refractories by spraying or manual painting. This coating forms an impervious layer over the refractory and same stops the infiltration of O2 through this layer and as a result the carbon does not get oxidized during preheating. However during casting, the coating gets washed by the molten metal but during this period, the carbon in the refractory component gets graphitized and becomes more oxidation resistant.
