Soil Mixing is a geotechnical method used to improve the bearing capacity and stability of ground. A similar technique is used for remediation of contaminated sites.

Soil Mixing is a geotechnical method used to improve the bearing capacity and stability of marginal ground. Clay, peat, silt, sediment, sludge, or dredged material can be treated to address areas of inadequate strength or stability to support new infrastructure or to prevent erosion. The method utilizing Antraquip mixers relies on thoroughly mixing binders into subject material while the material remains in-place or insitu. Soil Mixing is quick and cost effective compared to other methods such as: excavation and replacement of incompetent soil or compaction by surcharge. Treated ground can be accessed with heavy equipment in as short a time as one day.

  • Fast ground improvement, treated material can support advancing equipment often within 24 hours, support additional structures often within a week.
  • Sustainable development - Soil mixing facilitates reuse of existing on-site material
  • Conservation of Replacement Fill - No need to use off-site material as replacement fill, avoids excavation and transportation costs
  • Conserves Landfill Space, unsuitable soil is treated, not disposed
  • Lower Carbon Footprint than excavation, transportation and replacement
  • Cost-effective Use of Binders, accurate binder dosing and thorough mixing
  • Reuse of Industrial By-products fly ash and slag may be used as binders

Antraquip Soil Mixers can also be used to remediate contaminated soil, sediment, sludge or waste. The technology is called Solidification/Stabilization (S/S) when used for environmental remediation. S/S immobilizes or destroys hazardous constituents within the treated material. lnsitu S/S is frequently used to treat contaminated property allowing subsequent development - "Brownfield Redevelopment".

  • Stiffening of pavement and rail subgrades
  • Stabilization of embankments
  • Protection of adjacent structures from transmitted vibration
  • Improvement of clay, silt, or peat soils
  • Improve bearing capacity of soil for building foundations
  • Modification of very soft soils for tunnel boring
  • Support of noise attenuation barriers
  • Low permeability ground water protection layers
  • Reduction of soil hydraulic conductivity
  • Erosion control
  • Protection layers for permafrost and frost
  • Reuse of dredged material management areas for infrastructure development
  • Treatment of dredge within barges producing engineered fill
  • Recycling of the industrial by-products
  • Solidify free-liquids
  • Increase compressive strength
  • Reduce hydraulic conductivity
  • lnsitu solidification/stabilization (ISS)
  • Immobilize hazardous constituents
  • Destroy hazardous constituents by lnsitu chemical oxidation or reduction (ISCO or ISCR)

Antraquip Soil Mixers are attachments for conventional excavators. The Soil Mixers are easily mounted on an excavator with pin mounts. Antraquip Soil Mixers are powered by the excavator`s hydraulic system. Attaching , a Soil Mixer converts the excavator into a powerful and versatile mixing tool. The mixing drums penetrate and mix a variety of material in place or insitu. Materials can be mixed anywhere the excavator can go, utilizing the excavator`s mobility and articulation to reach difficult or soft areas. Binders or chemical agents are delivered to
the area of the highest mixing shear by an attached 80-mm (3-inch) diameter pipe and
injected via nozzle located between the mixing drums.

Soil Mixers are able to effectively mix a variety of materials including: clay, silt, peat, sludge, sediment, dredged material, and contaminated soil. Antraquip engineers incorporate their extensive experience of manufacturing mining and rock cutting equipment into the design of Antraquip's Soil Mixers. The equipment is capable of operating in extreme conditions, including hard soil mixed with rock. Antraquip selects hydraulic motors and designs drivetrains and sealing systems to ensure long service life and durability in the most challenging environments. The teeth of the mixing head are available from carbide-tipped bits for mixing hard consolidated soil to wear-resistant "paddle" style tools for mixing high-water content dredged material or
soft peaty soi I.

Antraquip Soil Mixers are custom-built to fit the customer's existing equipment. Antraqup Soil Mixers are available in four different mixing head sizes to match the carrying excavator's hydraulic system flow and pressures. Models to fit excavators from 15 to 70 tons. Stem lengths (extensions) are available from 2 meter (6 feet) to 7 meter (23 feet).

  • Easily installed and operated off of standard auxiliary hydraulic system of the carrier
  • Throttle rotation speed control allowing for desirable rpm for conditions (0-120 rpm)
  • Maximum mixing power with torque capability of up to 34,000 N m (25,000 ft lb)
  • Rugged gear box utilizing spur gears to maximize mixing power and life of hydraulic motor
  • Robust mixing drums to maximize service life in any type of soil
