The FieldMate 3 Base Area Monitor is designed for accurate area measurement for agricultural implements such as seed drills and mowers. Seed drill area measurement is facilitated by a sensor on the input shaft to the seeder metering system, displaying measurements to 0.000 of a hectare. Mowers and windrowers use a ground wheel sensor to measure distance traveled and an additional sensor to monitor implement activity, switching to HOLD mode in non-operation. The monitor is versatile, capable of displaying only the area measured or featuring additional functionalities like shaft monitoring, reporting, and hour timers. It is available as a standalone unit or as part of a comprehensive kit with wiring loom and sensors. Key technical specifications include a supply voltage of 5 to 30 volts, current draw of 20 to 60 milliampere, automotive load dump protection, 500-volt reverse protection, and a data retention capability of 20 years. The device is equipped with an ARM 32-bit 160MHz processor and is certified with EMC C-Tick.

Seed drill area measurement is done with one sensor on the input shaft to the seeder metering system. The monitor will display area to 0.000 of a hectare and will flash HOLD on the display when not in area measurement mode.

Mowers and windrowers fitted with a field mate monitor will get the distance travelled measurement from a ground wheel sensor, and another sensor with monitor when the implement is working, hence going into HOLD in the head lands, and when the implement is placed on to the ground again the area measurement resumes. The monitors can be supplied displaying AREA only, using the 2 arrow buttons to set the PULSE DISTANCE and the working width of the implement. Additionally, the monitors can be supply with any or all of the following to suit your budget or machine needs:
