Morcom - Model AWOS -Automatic Weather Observation System
The AWOS system is the heart of an airport’s meteorological information system. The AWOS includes a various critical aviation sensors like wind, visibility, temperature, atmospheric pressure, etc. The system collects data that is then processed by a powerful software application. This generates the reports required by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) as well as the displays and alerts utilized by operators and air traffic controllers.
The Vaisala AviMet system offered by Morcom is the most advanced AWOS system available. AviMet generate real-time reports and alerts by analyzing the wind, visibility, cloud height, pressure, lightning, wind shear, precipitation, runway surface conditions, and other factors.
Vaisala sensors are designed specifically for aviation and selected based on the airport`s specific needs. The core system can be scaled from small, uncategorized airports to largest CAT III hubs. By merging advanced sensor and system algorithms with accurate weather observations and reporting, AviMet provides you with comprehensive situational awareness of the weather within and above the airport boundaries.
