Mueller - Model BDSS -Blow Down Separator/Silencer
The Mueller Model BDSS Blow Down Separator/Silencer removes entrained liquids from high-pressure gas or steam discharging to the atmosphere while reducing the noise associated with this venting. The BDSS utilizes an acoustic model long accepted in the industry, incorporating absorptive and dissipative acoustic functions. The cylindrical arrangement enables low-pressure drop while achieving high attenuation properties.
Unlike other units on the market, Mueller's superior double walled design that incorporates liquid traps efficiently removes fluids from the gas stream, allowing them to drain by gravity. Steam or gas enters the vent separator through the diffuser going to atmospheric pressure. The diffuser is comprised of a cylindrical, perforated and capped tube. Downstream of the diffuser is the separating element where the gas or steam impinge, develop centrifugal forces and throw liquid particles to the shell wall. The separating element consists of stationary blades arranged in a tangential pattern. Liquid particles wipe around the shell, creating a sheeting action where they are trapped in drain pockets. Then due to gravity, the separated liquid flows into the sump area for collection. The gas stream, then free of entrained liquid, enters the absorptive acoustic section then exits the unit. The BDSS is self-cleaning, and with no moving parts, is extremely low-maintenance. As with all Mueller products, it is engineered and built to last, logging many years of reliable performance across the country under all types of field conditions.
Mueller Environmental Designs guarantees to meet separation, pressure drop, blow downtime and noise control criteria and warranties against poor workmanship, material defects or failure due to improper equipment selection.
