Terrific Broth is a nutrient-rich medium capable of supporting the growth of the recombinant E. coli , and similar bacterial strains. It contains yeast extract, tryptone, sodium phosphate, potassium nitrate, and glycerol, providing the necessary nutrients for rapid cell growth. Terrific Broth is often used to grow cells that have undergone transformations, yielding substantial production of DNA plasmids and thus equivalent production of recombinant proteins.
