Oil Stop - Bunker Booms
Bunker Booms are used on land-to-water transfers, or mid-stream transfers of fuel applications. Usually installed in pairs, at an appropriate distance on each side of the transfer hose, Bunker Booms create a contained area at the point of transfer. Bunker Booms are much like conventional containment booms, except they are fitted with fiberglass longitudinal battens that flex like a spring. The end plates are fitted with stiff gasket material to create a seal against the vessel(s) and the dock.
Bunker Booms are lightweight and can be installed by one person. Simply drop them in the water and release the restrictor line. The Bunker Boom will spring open with pressure to seal and contact the vessel and dock and create a contained area. If oil is spilled in this area, it will be contained in smaller area than if the entire vessel were surrounded. Fuel cleanup and removal may be done without putting personnel in a boat.
Bunker Booms are available in lengths from 8 feet to 20 feet (1.2 - 6 meters). Bunker Booms are made with heavy duty polyurethane material to resist abrasion and allow for easy cleaning.
