Century Geophysical - Model 4323 -Full Wave Express Stack Sonic Tool
The Full Wave Sonic tool by Century Geophysical is designed for recording formation travel times using a single transmitter and three strategically spaced receivers. This tool captures full waveform data, near, mid, and far travel times, borehole-compensated delta time, and calculated sonic porosity. Additionally, it records receiver gains, amplitude variations, and natural gamma. Operating on the principle of sound propagation through media, the system measures interval transit times over distances of approximately 3, 4, and 5 feet from the transmitter. Key features include a 24 kHz piezoelectric transmitter, thermoplastic polyester acoustic isolator, a diameter of 63.5 mm, and a length of 354.4 cm. It operates effectively up to 120°C and 5000 PSI, with a logging speed of 9 meters per minute. This downhole digital tool allows for quick automatic setup and unique tool identification, making it suitable for various custom applications in geophysical surveying.

The sonic or acoustic log uses the basic principle of sound waves traveling through a media. The Century sonic system uses a single transmitter and receiver system for recording the travel times of the formation. The receivers are spaced approximately 3, 4, and 5 feet, from the transmitter. Therefore, a 0.3 m (1 ft.) calculation can be made to measure this interval transit time.
