These chiral TLC plates have a reversed-phase layer impregnated with Cu(2+) ions and a chiral selector. They are compatible with essentially all visualization reagents except strong acids. Charring is not recommended due to the presence of organic materials in the layer. Special layer for TLC enantiomer separation. Separation is based on ligand exchange, i. e. formation of ternary mixed-ligand complexes with Cu(II) ions. Differences in the stability of the diastereomeric complexes cause chromatographic separation.
