Hydrodemolition is a technique that is widely used in the construction industry. This technique is dedicated to the following:

Most popular related searches
  • drinking water tanks
  • wastewater treatment plants
  • bridges, flyovers, footbridges
  • cooling towers
  • chimneys
  • underground car parks
  • hydro-engineering structures – dams, weirs, sluices, docks

The hydrodemolition method is used to remove both new and old concrete:

  • removal of bleeding water
  • removal of carbonated concrete or deteriorated pavements
  • exposing of aggregate
  • preparation of surfaces for gunite placement, stopping and painting
  • removal of new concrete that has been wrongly selected or poured in an unexpected location, without damaging the reinforcement
  • removal of concrete in order to uncover the reinforcement mesh and to apply corrosion protection – without damaging the steel structure of the bars (most often, when the investor wants to connect to the existing building in order to expand it)
  • removal of all coatings from concrete – resins, epoxies, laminates, bitumen, waterproofing of all types

Benefits of the hydrodemolition technique:

  • Protects against micro-cracks in the structure
  • Does not affect and does not weaken reinforcement bars when removing concrete; additionally removes all corrosion elements from the steel surface
  • Flushes out all sulfides and chlorides from the surface of concrete
  • Does not emit noise downstream the element being removed – does not transmit vibrations
  • Does not emit additional tonnes of abrasive to be disposed of – ca. 50 kg of copper slag per m2 in the case of sandblasting
